- College application preparation (Mock college applications will be completed by the AVID students and essays and personal statements will be started early on in high school in order for the student to have a well written essay at the beginning of senior year to apply to colleges)
- A strong network of friends and family that will support the student through all his or her endeavors in high school (AVID students will bond through such events as the "Ropes" course that is a team building activity, and have four years together strengthening the bond between them)
Travis AVID has so much to offer its students both members and prospective members. In order to help them along their path toward success, AVID provides many benefits to students who may have financial difficulties or other obstacles interfering with their goals. To bridge this gap between students who have opportunity and students who are determined but lack opportunity, the AVID program has set up many opportunities with close-by Universities including William Marsh Rice University and The University of Houston to give students the best opportunities available. Although AVID seeks students who lack resources, anyone can be admitted as long as he or she is determined to persevere through the high school years, set goals, attend a University, and achieve those goals - for students to be able to be successful is the grande picture that the AVID program keeps in mind.
